Because it wasn't the answer they wanted. Most people who ask theoretical questions on here just want people to agree with them. If you disagree, then you must be wrong and stupid.
I've had the same experiences. I try to avoid those kinds of questions.

I understand what you are saying. There have been some very good answers to questions, I may not necessarily agree with them, but I do not give someone a thumbs down if it is a "decent" answer, however, I will give a thumbs down to someone that says something stupid like " you need a real man or bite me" This is a place for opinions, not necessarily fact, and everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. We live in a diverse civilization and someone should not be criticized for stating what they believe in.
As to why, it is human nature . It is also easy to criticize on the net, where you are anonymous, but if half these people confronted you face to face, they would back down.

Because it's human nature. Everyone gets mad at some point. It all depends on our "Fight or Flight" reflex. Some people are better at "Flight" - walking away and dealing with it on their own, or bottling it up - than others.
As for Yahoo! Answers; that's the beauty of it. As you probably know, everyone has their own opinions, and everyone here is looking for what other people think. As well, everyone has their own personality and beliefs. If they don't like your opinion, that's their choice, not yours. If you get a thumbs down, don't take it personally. Just know that you have your own set of beliefs and that's what's really supposed to matter to you.

It sounds like you just got mad yourself......
This site is all about giving your opinion. Everyone has an opinion. Some will agree with you, while others may totally disagree. Either way, it is still one's opinion.
I am sure you have heard the phrase - "think outside of the box", well that what this is all about. You bring a question to the table and you're going to get all sorts of answers and reactions.
Even as a writer, when you respond to someone's question, others will react to your words to show that either they agree or disagree with you.
Some people are looking for real answers, others are just having fun with the questions they ask to see what kind of reaction they will get. And then there are those who come to purposely rain on your parade when you ask a question. You are putting your business out in the open for the world to see, then you better be ready to handle what comes your way.
Different opinions is what makes this a great world to live in. We all are different and we have different beliefs, morales, backgrounds, lifestyles, experiences, religion, vaules, concerns, and even different answers.
If you ask a question be ready for the answers, and if answer a question be ready for the reactions of others. It's a big playground and if you can't play with others, then go home.

Because people only want to hear everyone who agrees with them. It validates them as a person. Don't worry about people who are like that.

because they can and they have no life... its best not to answer personal or religious questions that dont have a right or wrong answer. It just gives people excuses to report you...

I sometimes find that I read the question too fast and did not provide an answer relevant to their question. Its a waste of my time, the time of others, and of course the person asking's time.
