A CD drive can't read DVD's. A DVD is a completely differently formatted disc from the CD. It stores data much more densely and required a smaller wavelength laser and more precise hardware than a CD drive can handle. Therefore, unless you have a DVD drive, a CD drive can't read DVD's no matter what software or drivers you use. Sorry.

It doesnt sound like you have a dvd-rom. Just a cd-rom. A cd-rom cant play dvds. Your either gonna have to go out and buy a dvd player or upgrade your laptop. Sorry.

Most laptops have a floppy drive and some sort of CD or DVD drive built into the laptop itself. Notice it says "or". Upgrades to the standard CD-ROM drive include DVD-ROM drives. You didn't mention the make and model of your laptop, so I can't be sure what kind of DVD-ROM will fit in it.

Your drive probably isnt a dvd drive. Your going to either replace the driver or buy a dvd player.

Does it have the DVD logo? Not just the "compact disk" logo?

It had better have the DVD logo. Otherwise it can't play D VDs at all.

hey girl. i don't know if you can do what you want to do or not. i would consider just going out and paying 30.00 bucks for a DVD player. (I got a memorex from target for 24.99) it's just easier in the long run, assuming you've got a tv
