Well in theory it sounds right, if it's a chemical imbalance that makes you depressed then just correct the balance, right? Except that they can't quite get it right. They try & it's big business selling pills trying to cure people's ills. But we are not all identical. Your brain chemistry is different from mine. Prescriptions affect people differently. So how can one little pill cure a wide variety of people. Maybe it will help one person. Maybe it'll turn another into a homicidal maniac. Is it worth the risk? It's a roll of the dice. They don't seem to quite know how to get it right. Sometimes the cure is worse than the disease. Some anti-depressants warn on the box "May cause depression" isn't this ironic?! Some of the side effects are worse than depression! There are anti-depressants which cause anxiety. There are anti-anxiety pills which cause depression. They think that it's a simple switch on/off, bring you up or bring you down. Given the choice I'd pick depression over anxiety ANY DAY. There's nothing worse than panic. I've seen people on anti-depressants & anti-anxiety pills & it's scary stuff. If something works for you, that's great but I think it's sad how doctors, drug companies (even schools in some case ie for ADHD promoting ritalin! mistake!!!) push people to pop pills which may be very dangerous for them & make them worse.

A better world would be to find peace & happiness within ourselves drug-free. There must be better routes to happiness...hobbies, exercise, meditation, yoga, comedy, having fun, changing negative attitudes & unhealthy behaviours...

The world would be a very boring place if everybody was feeling the same. If everybody was happy all the time what would be the point of living. Life would just be a clock ticking if everybody did the same thing everyday. Differnt emotions, Different feelings, Different interests, Different cultures. Different religions, Differnt styles, Different looks, the list goes on, is what keeps this world a interesting place to be in. True there is alot of anger in the world but there is also alot of happiness as well. As far as im concerned let those people that are angry be angry. Besides they woul'dnt be really happy it would be because of the dope. Hope this helps. Thankyou for the question Sincerely Meg

It's simply not just chemicals but it's what triggered those chemicals in the first place. If you intend to make and get the best out of life you will look for opportunities and do things that would constantly trigger those happy chemicals. It all depends on the person's outlook on life for example ask yourself are you an optimist or pessimist??? and you'll figure out why some people can be happy despite negative circumstances around them and why some can't be happy at all !!!

Happiness is a feeling not a chemical reaction. And people take the happy pill because they need it or doctor prescribe it to them for a reason not because they wanted to. Anyways those people get addicted to pills, and that's not good. Well I hope that answer your question.

We sense happiness with the aid of a chemical reaction in our strategies, yet those chemical components do no longer make up the substance of happiness. Happiness is an thought, it is not something actual. on the same time, emotions of happiness would be prompted through manipulating strategies chemistry. This begs the question, are we actually experiencing something significant or are we in basic terms sacks of meat with complicated circuitry? I even tend to have faith that happiness is meant to be a area of our lives (no count if positioned right here through a God or area of our evolutionary cycle, i'm going to go away as much as you), and consequently our bodies are stressed out to facilitate those emotions. i think of it makes extra experience that we are able to describe emotions of happiness scientifically than if emotions have been in basic terms some mysterious tension appearing on us. whilst all's pronounced and accomplished... i'm in basic terms happy i'm happy! :)

Because taking a "magic pill" would make the cells that release those hormones unable to do so on their own. Then we would be tied down forever to these "magic pills" and have to take higher and higher doses to get the same effect. Plus deal with the side effects.

Happiness is a state of mind . . . it is a realization. You can take all the pills in the world and still not be happy . . .

I totally agree. I am so happy when I have my pills, and such a b---h when I don't, so I know mine is caused by a chemical reaction!

WRONG! that is what is wrong with the world as it is, too many are looking for chemical happiness.
happiness is an inside job...doesn't have alot to do with chemistry at all, mostly spiritual.

We have all kinds of Happy pills. Unfortunately it appears that man has a weakness for "Happiness". Once started, they are difficult to impossible to leave alone.
