When I got my Wii, I found that the place where the disk or game is supposed to go in only lights up for about a second, and that is when I put a disc in it. Is it supposed to do that? If not then how do I get it to stay on?

Yeah, it's supposed to do that. As far as I know, there is no way to get it to stay on.

the blue indicator light should only illuminate when a game disc is inserted or when an email / message has been sent to your Wii.

there is currently no way to leave this on permanently.

you will desire to hold the capability button so as that it turns crimson, because of the fact in case you do no longer it turns yellow meaning standby. that's why the disc tray each so often glints on and rancid...it is common yet save electrical energy dude.
