I think people are trying to take religion out of the holiday to justify their life choices. What I don't understand is why change things now? If you don't believe then what difference does a Nativity scene make? Who cares if Christ is in Christmas? They're just things to a nonbeliever.
If you believe in something else, then you have to ask yourself if your faith is so week that it can be shaken by the sight of a Christmas tree. If that's the case, the you should probably be focusing on something other than a decorated tree.
It's too bad really. Great question!!!

I'm not a liberal.
Christ was never in "Christmas." Jesus was born in a different month. This holiday is only a couple of centuries old.
The date of Jesus' birth is not given, because he is God Almighty manifest in the flesh.
It is a commercial holiday, and it always will be.
There are Christians who don't celebrate this holiday.
There is no command in the new testament to celebrate or not celebrate this feast.
I go along with the holiday out of respect to my family and friends.
The people who want Jesus removed from public life are not "liberal" in any real sense of the word.
Liberals are people who favour individual liberty. Words have meaning or they don't.
People who say they are liberal and want any thing about Jesus or religion removed from any one else's lives are not really liberal. They're actually politicians.
As far as putting trees in one's homes, Jewish Germans decorated their homes and synagogues with table top trees for hanukah going back to the 1870s. The martin luther story is bogus. The queen Victoria story sounds fishy too.
Nobody wants to remove Jesus from the holiday. A lot of people wish he was in it to begin with.

I tend to feel the same way. I am not Muslim, so I don't celebrate Ramadan. I have no problem with others doing so, but it's not a part of my life. I feel those who don't believe in Jesus should not bother with participating in the Christmas celebration. I would also suggest that maybe those of you who don't believe in Jesus - show some kindness . . . volunteer to work in place of your Christian co-workers if your company is open that day - such as a hospital or hotel - and allow the co-worker to spend the holiday he wants to celebrate with his family. Also, feel free to save your company some money by electing not to receive a Christmas bonus or holiday with pay, since it is not something you believe in. Either that, or donate your Christmas bonus to charity and allow the organization to use the funds to help someone else who needs it.

OK genius.....
"Xmas" is just an abbreviation for Christmas and "Happy Holidays" simply means, Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Years. It covers everything and is just easier to say.
Looks like FOX news has gotten a hold of your pea brain and convinced you that the "liberals" are conspiring against the white Christian male...
Don't be such a turd, it's not that serious...

Liberals arent removing christ from christmas? where did u get this fact?
Xmas has been around for awhile, its shorthand and reference to Happy Holidays means the same exact thing as happy christmas, merry christmas, happy yuletide, etc.
if anything only a few extremists *both ends of the spectrum* take this way out of porpotion. Why are you worried about this anyways? Be thankful you have a family to celebrate this moment, there are ppl out there who have no one.

EXCUSE ME
Talk about indoctrinated rubbish.
It's only your celebration because you stole it from Pagans, and has nothing at all to do with the birth of your christ figure.
It is where it is because the Romans needed some way to introduce conquered tribes into Christianity, they did this by arbitrarily assigning the Winter Solstice festival as the festival of the birth of Christ.
So don't go on about others taking it away from you.
