Coming down to las Vegas on New Year's Eve wanted to find out what time is to strip close down to traffic? And if it's worth renting a car to get around.

its not worth renting a car if your staying at a hotel on the strip. They start closing down the the strip 1 lane at a time about 8pm.

They typically close the strip at nightfall/dusk and in the winter that is about 5 pm. Cabs are expensive but the traffic can be a nightmare, although it is very cool to cruise the strip in a something like a convertable (when it's warm). That said most people walk. There are trams (they now charge but used to be free) cabs, tons of limos for hire from the various hotels, and of course your trusty feet. One should not drink and drive there, or anywhere for that matter. Every room in Vegas receives a bottle of complimentary Champagne for New Years Eve (or they did in past years) varying greatly in quality depending on the amount spent on the room. Enjoy and Happy New Year, Vegas is a fantastic place to spend the New Year.

I was in Vegas 2 years ago for New Years and they closed traffic at 5:00 (dusk). They have fireworks and all sorts of crazy stuff. I definatly would not rent a car, its a bad idea even if it isnt New Years. A ride from stip to downtown (or vice versa) is around $19. From hotel to hotel on Strip, just walk.

The strip is usually closed down between Flamingo and Sahara around 4-5. How long are you staying, just 1 night? Where r u staying?
