Why yes indeed, my child. Before Coca-Cola began with the red suit (which does look good) Santa was usually portrayed with a green suit. He's also *locally* portrayed in green in other countries and there were a few instances that Santa was hinted as being tied back to the Elder Green Man of Pagan times (Old Man Winter). It's too bad about the row over the turkey. You have my sympathies when families fight about Santa. Usually we argue about opened presents first last year. Merry Christmas.

The Santa Claus figure, although not yet standardized, was ubiquitous by the late 19th century. Santa was portrayed as both large and small; he was usually round but sometimes of normal or slight build; and he dressed in furs (like Belsnickle) or cloth suits of red, blue, green, or purple. A Boston printer named Louis Prang introduced the English custom of Christmas cards to America, and in 1885 he issued a card featuring a red-suited Santa. The chubby Santa with a red suit (like an "overweight superhero") began to replace the fur-dressed Belsnickle image and the multicolored Santas.

Coca Cola later played a role in popularizing Santa they way he is now.

Santa did dress in green clothes until he was portrayed in a red suit by the Coca Cola Company in the 20's.

Why did you change the colors of Santa Claus into green?

Using a language they will understand, we will tell them that "one of the biggest, the most important, the most
urgent problems of our world is the protection of wild life". We will draw the attention of children on the issue
of protection of environment through the green Santa Claus. We will use the color green to create a magic
effect. The children can see Santa Claus the color they want to see after getting this reply.
