I always do room temperature water, so the plants aren't shocked by a big temperature difference.

Room temp is best so that it doesn't shock them. But I've watered straight from the tap which was pretty cool. The best thing to do is to fill your watering can AFTER you're done watering the plants. Then, next week--I always watered once a week giving the soil a real good soak--the water is at the right temperature and a lot of the chlorine has evaporated off.

Room temp. Also, it's best if the water has set out for 24 hours before watering, so the chlorine can evaporate.
