You can give your baby the baby cereals mixed with formula or breastmilk as early as 4 months, although some pediatricians recomend waiting until 6 months old to be sure the baby's digestive system can handle it. Same story for baby juice and stage 1 baby foods. You can get feeding tips and information at Gerber's website. Good Luck!

I started giving my son things to taste about 6 months, not really feeding him but just letting him taste or lick the food. As for the baby food, I started off with the oatmeal in his formula just for a little thickness before I put him to bed. This is when he was sleeping throughout the night. After about a month or so, I started giving him the baby food from the jar. Start with the first ones and don't feed the baby the whole jar right from the start. Just ease into it.

I think it's important that they be able to sit up with their head up, as opposed to being so young, their head needs to be propped or held up.

As for the juice, I didn't start that until he was a year old. It's not really recommended it since the sugar, even if it's natural sugar. It's better to get ounces of milk rather than ounces of juice. Even then, the recommended limit is less than 6 oz a day.

On average, babies should start solids at about 6 months old. Sometimes parents give their babies solids starting at 4 months, if the baby appears ready. But there is better to wait as long as you can.

As far as juice, there is no good reason to offer juice to a baby. In fact, it's bad, because it's full of sugar and can cause diaper rash because of the acidity. If you want to give juice, start about 6 months and water it heavily as in 1/4 juice to 3/4 water. But like I said, just offer your baby water. It's better and cheaper.

I do not reccomend anything besides breastmilk for the first 6 months at least. I start giving my little people tastes of things around 8-9 months, but not really 3 meals a day until over a year. Breastmilk is all your baby needs for the first year.

The school of thought now is 6 months plus although both of my children started weaning at four months. I didn't give them juice however until they were about 8-9 months as I wanted them to like water in the vain hope of reducing tooth decay (you can't but hope as a parent)
