2 and 0 are the only numbers which give the same result when either added to or multiplied by themselves.

In general terms what we're comparing here is x + x and x * x, ie 2x and x^2. For the two to be equal the identity 2x = x^2 needs to hold. We can express this as a quadratic, ie x^2 - 2x = 0. Factoring gives x(x - 2) = 0, ie x = 0 or x - 2 = 0. Hence x = 2 and x = 0 are the only values at which it holds, as required.

2 +2 is simply adding 2 to the number 2 which equals4.
2 * 2 is according to multiplication rules is 2 twice which is also 4.

3 + 3 is simply adding 3 to the number 3 which is 6.
3 * 3 is taking the number 3 three times which is 9. 3 + 3 + 3 is actually what you are doing.

well lets see..

twice the number 2 is two more than two which is 4

2 times the multiple of 2 is 4


three times the number 3 is 9

@@@ times @@@ which means that there are three seperate occasions in multiples of 3 does equal 9

it depends on how many 3s and 2s you add in your problem
