Most Spanish-speaking people do as a term of endearment for someone older.

I call my own mother "Mama" as I do some Spanish/Latina women I care for in my job.

Nope! I say that sometimes when I am talking to my wife I got it in a habit when the children where little to learn them what to call her. It just sorta stuck in my head,

Yeah, I do all the time. For example, "Hey foxey mama, how about coming back to my place and I'll show you my tattoo?".

no. i call my mom mommy lol. i guess i still havent change from when i was a little kid. but i think people in the country call their mothers that. i saw it in a movie
