What is your processor speed? What is actually loading whn you turn it on? You may have spyware that is loaded on your computer or even worse you may have a virus.

Download Search and Destroy, Spyblaster and Hijack This and run through them and that will help remove any spyware or adware programs that are usurping the startup process. You also need to run your antivirus software to make sure you do not have any viruses within the system...

1. Pop Windows XP cd in the drive.

2. Shut down and restart.

3. Windows XP should ask if you want to boot from the disk. Say yes.

4. Proceed methodically in reinstalling WinXP.

On a side note. You will erase everything, of course. better have your PC vendor's site handy to re-download those drivers.

you can stop unwanted services and programs from loading when your machine startup by typing {msconfig} the word within the braces in the start > run. (For xp and 98) or if you know how which i dun think you do, edit your window registry for startup (for windows)
