avoiding standby on macbook pro running XP w/external monitor?

I'm running XP on my macbook pro using bootcamp, and have an external monitor, which mirrors my laptop screen. I want to shut the laptop and keep working, but when I shut the laptop, it goes into standby. Anyone how how to avoid this?

You might try right clicking on the desktop, and going to the last tab and hitting the "Advanced" button. You may find an option for that there.

You can't. Apple had a problem with laptops overheating when people shut the cover so they turn off the video card when you shut it now.
