According to the movie Amedaus, the prodigy was buried in a mass grave , wrapped in tarp and rope and dumped and forgotten as if he was no one ! How accurate was this portrayal, because there are so many versions to this rumor? According to this it was an unmarked grave. Has anyone been able to pin point the exact location to this day?

Amadeus is a good movie and the portrayal of his burial isn't totally wrong but fails to mention several details. He wasn't penniless when he died; he just had the habit of spending too much. Apparently he had a good income just not good enough to keep up with his lifestyle. He was buried in a communal grave, and it's true that his grave was unmarked. however this wasn't because he was too poor, at the time the laws of Emperor Joseph II ordered that bodies be buried without coffins in that manner. He was buried in St Marx's Cemetery, his grave unmarked as regulations ordered. Obviously memorial stones have been since set up...but the original burial site within the cemetery is lost.
