Hey fellow American - do you know that your tax dollars are being spent to put a roof over the heads of these animals in the Cuban detention areas.
Do you think they thought of the families of the bread winners that were butchered by the filth in some foolish belief that they will meet 72 virgins when they are in hell.

The had no consideration of the families that were left behind. But you are supporting them with YOUR tax dollars-- What a joke -- You pay for their foom and board every April 15 th. They should have been addressed on the battlefield--in my OH most humble of opinions.

1) They have not been arrested. If they were arrested they would have a charge. Then this charge would be read out in a court of law and they would be allowed to defend themselves. You can also not arrest citizens of a foreign country without aquiring an extradition.
2) They have been denied access to a lawyer of any form - so they COULD have just been random people the CIA picked up off the street, they just haven't had the opportunity to defend themselves.
3) They have human rights. One of these rights is to not be falsely imprisoned - which is exactly what has happened to them. To deny these human rights is a crime under international law and means the US is elligable for sanctions or occupation by a UN peacekeeping force - fat chance of that happening however.
4) If you believe in the execution of these people without charge and without trial, then how long will it be before American citizens may also face the same treatment? When a CIA agent sees a middle-eastern looking man looking suspicious will he therefore have the right to shoot him dead - no questions asked? Is this the freedom that the terrorists are jealous of, that your soldiers are dying to protect?

Technically, you're right. Combatants that are irregular, or non-uniform (you know, insurgents, terrorists, and rebels without uniforms or a government, like al Qaeda) are technically not afforded ANY rights from the Geneva conventions. Summary execution would be perfectly legal.

However, we have to prove ourselves above casual slaughter, otherwise we're as bad as the people we're fighting. I do agree, that we need to try them or release the, if for no other reason then to just be done with them.

Do you know what the word "suspect" means? Did you also know that dozens of Gitmo detainees have been released because there was no evidence that they did anything to the US or were a threat?

Even a humble opinion needs to be educated.

The operative word is suspected.
What do you want to do? Go through a witch hunt though the whole Middle East and shoot anyone anybody says has anything to do with terrorism?
Would that make you feel safe and cozy in your warm bed at night, to know anyone whom we have the slightest suspicion just might be a terrorist gets instantly shot? Would it give you pride when saluting the flag, to know it inspires fear and hatred to 1 billion Muslims?
What you're proposing is as bad as the worst of them.

Geneva Convention aside, to do as you say would simply reduce us to the same level of behavior as the terrorists exist on.

Our tax dollars are definitely buying the real terrorists the good life. Just look at the real terrorists. They are living it up, big time.

It's already been proved that there are people there that don't belong there. People that are not terrorists. If these people are so bad, why haven't we charged them with a crime and delivered the punishment?
