I believe so. Culture and language both influence and reinforce each other. How we look at the world (our culture) has a big effect on how we talk about it and even how we feel about it.
I've lived in Japan for more than 20 years, but I cannot speak the language fluently because their culture looks at the world differently than my culture (I was born and raised in the US and didn't come here til I was in my mid-30s).
I'm not sure about scientists who deal with this question in particular, but Stephen J. Gould (Harvard Paleontologist and excellent essayist on science and culture) and Stephen Pinker (MIT psychology researcher/teacher who writes regularly about the brain & language acquisition) might be good people to start with. They both write science books for people who are not trained as scientists. They don't "dumb it down", but they don't use a lot of technical language, either.

I can't name any scientists who've said this, but I can imagine that yes, culture would influence language. Culture means "a way of life", and the language you speak is a way of life..... Then again, someone who's NOT from the American culture, for instance (let's say they're Chinese or something), but speak fluent English and not their own language can still mean that they're cultural people if they treasure their traditional beliefs and such..... Hmm.. I'm not sure.

Look at people in Texas vs people in New York City. They obviously speak the English language differently and have different slang terms for different things, and the culture is OBVIOUSLY different!
Sorry I can't quote scientists, but all ya need to do is look and listen! lol.
