I have found for years that the women do all the work and the men are too tired after the meal to help clean up or even watch the kids

Then I suggest you bring up the subject to them. If you don't say anything then they might have come to think that's the way you want it. I'm a man and I always help out as much as I'm allowed.

Edit: Geez, people. Just because there are men and kids at Christmas dinner doesn't mean she's not gay. Or bisexual. Way to stereotype.

And this is gay because?

But my solution to that is that we quit doing a huge formal dinner on Christmas day, I do one for Thanksgiving and for New Years and a couple of others just for fun during the year....but not Christmas.

Today we have all of our favorite foods, great cheeses, a pot of soup simmering on the stove next to the mulled cider. Nothing here that can't be done a day or longer ahead of time, except for putting things out on the buffet.

We will sit down and have a bowl of soup together but mainly everyone will just nibble on whatever strikes their fancy at the moment.

Nobody ends up working their tail off and we have a lot more time to spend as a family. (We also donate the money we save to the food pantry that serves our area.....so everyone wins!)

Too tired from what. He just don't plan on doing no housework or watching the kids because he might feel that's your responsibility as the woman of the house. You gots to ask your man to help out if you need help.

I have found the experience draining too. The solution is simple, EAT OUT!

Let someone else do all the cooking and cleaning, and then just relax and enjoy your family.
