Ask your boyfriend how he feels when he gets up in the morning. If he feels bad.....like it should be time to go back to bed and has a tough time getting through the day without being sleepy he may have sleep apnea. This is a potentially life threatening problem.
Watch him some night and see if he quits breathing for awhile then starts again with a loud snort. Also does he always sleep on his back? Maybe on his side....one or the other....would help.
The right kind of pillow makes a difference too.
Sleep Apnea can be corrected by using a machine that forces him to breath. You will sleep and he will feel so much better the next day. If this is the case he will love you for pointing this out.
It would require a sleep study to know if he has that problem.
Have him ask his doctor. If he has it and if it goes on long enough it can cause heart problems.
If he feels well rested and no problems with being tired during the day he may get relief from surgery to his nose and/or back of throat. Snoring is caused by the airway not being open at night. It could be the nose but could also be anywhere along the airway passage. People who are over weight have this problem quite often but it is not exclusive to them.
Regardless of the reason it can be helped but he must do something about it. Almost no one ever knows they snore. Only way to prove it would be to record it and play it back for him. Even then it will be hard for him to understand.
Make him see a doctor about this. It may save your realtionship and could save his life.

When my husband and I first started sleeping in the same bed, I had the same problem as you. He snores and his arms fly around everywhere. I thought I would never get use to it, but over time I have got use to the snoring. If fact we are apart right now(I am deployed for the military) and believe it or not I miss his snoring. I have to turn on a TV or radio to have noise to get to sleep. But if you find that you can't live with the snoring, there are plenty of other OTC medicines to try. If none of these work try seeing a doctor. As for the spasm, getting a bigger bed works, so you can move away from him if you need to.

To the person who said "Stop sleeping with boyfrieds and you wouldn't have this problem.", Do you think she should wait till shes married to find this out?
Now, if snoring strips don't work there are a variety of other products you can try. If worse comes to worse, just go see a doctor and he will know what to do. You can also get a bigger bed or sleep with earplugs. Start waking him up every time he starts to snore or let him know that it's really bothering you, that way it will become a priority for him to try and fix the situation too

He should go to a sleep clinic. There may be a medical condition behind his restlessness. You may be able to get a good night sleep if you had two beds in the same room. I have close friends that just can't share a bed....they sleep in the same room, but seperate beds. The snoring may still be an issue or it may not be the part that is keeping you up at night. If it is you may want to try falling asleep before him.

I would talk to him about going to the doctor about the snoreing! What kind of spasms is he haveing? I use to have leg spasms while i was sleeping, but before i would fall asleep my legs would cramp, tingle and just feel soooooo uncomftorable, then i went to the doctor, and i found out i had a thing called rls (restless leg syndrom), But all you can do is have him go to his dr. and tell the dr, how bad the snoreing is, he might have major problem..Thats all i can think to tell you. as for the talking i dont know if even the dr. can do anything about that

If he's heavy then he should lose weight. He may have sleep apnea, where he stops breathing in his sleep, then snores like a damn beast!! My last boyfriend sounded like Godzilla in his sleep. Thank the High Heavens my fiance does NOT snore.
Have him sleep on his side or his stomach. I notice most people snore while sleeping on their backs. Seeing as though you won't be getting any sleep, especially if he falls asleep first; wake him up every time he starts snoring loudly. It'll quiet him up for a while and maybe he'll change positions, especially if he's on his back. It's no miracle, but it works.
AND he talks in his sleep? Wow. Sounds like you've got your EARS full.

Both my husband and I snore heavily, and it is uncomfortable to sleep with him; he's 6'3", I'm 5'5", and sometimes it's hard to roll him over in bed. I've managed by making him roll over so he sleeps on his side, or sleeping on the couch, or I go to bed and get to sleep before he does. He used to tape me when I was asleep so I knew how loud I was. Try those, and see what happens. If worse comes to worse, take him to a doctor and have him get checked out; he may have to have his uvula (the little hanging bag in the back of the mouth) surgically removed. Good luck.

Someone in the world said this.
"love him then accept him"
"things will go straight when the time comes"
My mum snore when she sleep.I know how irritating it is.
Totally CAN't SleeP!!
Go to the doctor is the best!
Some is too tired then will snore.
Some is due to fat.
still got other reason.
But get to the bottom of it.
Even I till now can't find a way to stop it.
I'll put ear pluck. best is listen to music on a head phone or fill your room with peaceful music.

Yes, I've been there! I couldn't take the snoring, so we bought some of those breathe-right strips and they really work (for the snoring)...
as far as the talking in the sleep? ...I guess as long as he's not talking about other girls, then it's OK...

You could get him "fixed". They do surgeries on snorers to solve the problems. Otherwise try these earplugs. I have used them successfully to block out the street noises from Bombay and the snoring of traveling companions. They are the best earplugs I have ever used.
