vl calais,rebuilt head and retimed to suit new turbo cam,now it has developed a serious knock in the front of motor after working well for 1 week,could it be a main bearing,as compression test is ok.

Make sure harmonic ballancer is tight,it may be to late if it rounded the front of the crank.

When the head was "re-built" did they replace all the valves? Did you have them readjust your rockers since the rebuild? Sounds like a hung lifter...try some "Marvel Mystery OIL" it may free it up if not I'd say time to replace the lifters.
