I am discriminated against for being African american and being Muslim. I am more discriminated against for being Muslim, though. Everyday some ignorant person is gawking at me, pointing , laughing, and wondering why I'm covering my hair and body the way I do. The staring people are REALLY annoying, but I have learned to deal with it. I , in turn, laugh at them, because theyr'e so ignorant and uneducated that all they can do is stare. Staring is an everyday annoyance, but if is something more serious I will stand up for myself. But, fourtunately, there are people who will come ask me about my religion and practices. This I really love, and It makes me happy that people want to learn about me rather than just assume. Whenever people act ignorant towards me being Muslim, I remember that there are more people wanting to learn about me than hate me. I have had to deal with people being ignorant about African americans, but that has only happened within my school.

Most of the time it is so subtle, it's hard to put your finger on it.
Other times it really raises it's ugly head. I feel sorry for those
that are caught up in all the hate. Parents are still teaching their children racism through their actions. Racism over things that
are long since dead. Stories of hate and pain passed on generation to generation. Your grandpa told your dad and your dad told you and you told your son, and it will never end. As long
as people are willing to keep it alive. Racism is like a big mean
dog, it demands to be fed.
I can't hate someone because they are white, black , loud, or
even on drugs. I don't think hate and racism adds anything to
my life. Anything that is not a positive , that doesn't benefit you,
why would you want to keep it??
I say let it go...It never hurts to be kind, it never hurts to give a helping hand. Live your life to be the best person you can be.
For yourself , your children, their children and all others.
Change starts at home...............

Racism is all about hate, uneducation and ignorance. You just have to ignore it. Its hard but that's how it is. Im black and even though I know that racism existed as far back as centuries ago, its still hard for me to deal with it. When individuals pass remarks because of the colour of your skin, thats hurtful.
I mean what does it matter - whether we are black, white, latino, indian or asian? We were all put on this earth for a purpose - it would be very boring if everyone looked alike.
When I look at someone, I dont see their heritage or their skin colour. I see THEM - the PERSON - who they really are.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS and all the best for 2007.

Prejudice is everywhere. Pure politics. People like to arrange heirarchies. And its always based on surface issues.
It's never fun but once you realize where its coming from, its easier to cope.
