Is it safe for you to eat it? NO! I raised rabbits for years. What he is probably doing is chewing it up to make a nest or hide under. Check and make sure that the piles of chewed up cardboard or newspaper isn't disappearing. But if you want to avoid the whole issue itself...try not using newspaper or cardboard at all. I understand its cheap and therefore easier, but feed stores or even pet stores carry bedding made out of pine tree shavings that you can use instead. They will burrow and build a nest out of it. Also it tends to hold odor better =)

Bet you that your rabbit is NOT eating the cardboard at all, he is probably trying to find a way to nest or burrow which is normal. Give him a place where he can hide and you will have a much happier rabbit and you will not worry so much.

Its not safe for anything to eat that becuase of the chemicals they put in it. I had an animal die because it got a hold of too much paper and cardboard and the ink is posinious.

Cardboard is ok, but not anything with ink like newspaper or magazines. Petco and Petsmart sell some un-harmful carboard that are colorful too.

Call your newspaper company and ask if they use soy-based ink. If so, then it's harmless unless he consumes a very large amount. Cardboard won't kill him, but it's not healthy either. A nibble here and there is fine, but if he's actually consuming large amounts, take it away.

well they probably shouldn't, but i think it'd be ok since sometimes their bedding is made of shredded news paper... so i'd say ya.
