It's not a bad condition.. I have had it forever..
basically it's multiple cysts in your ovary/ovaries that affect your hormones.
symptoms vary, you might have some of them or all or just one.. sometimes none and you only discover it when you try to have a baby..
1. okay, so the most common symptom is irregular menses.. and you shouldn't worry about that unless you miss your period for so long. which might lead to overgrowth of your uterus (uterine hyperplasia) and for that u just take meds to have ur period.
2. you may have overgrowth of hair all over your body in a manly fashion.. (it's called hirsutism) and if it's too bad, it also can be managed by meds that also regulate your periods.
3. small breasts and large clit might be observed and it's because of the excess male hormones.
4. high libido (sex drive) and i find this an advantage ;)
5. insulin-resistance (which gives diabetes-like symptoms) ur body cannot regulate the sugar in your blood (but it is not as serious as diabetes.. it's just that u tend to gain weight and it's hard for you to loose it back)
6. seconrady infirtility (so when you plan to get pregnant you might need some help.. and it's easy to solve) at least you don't have to take extra precautions when it comes to birth control ;)
7. increased risk of abortion compared to average woman.. all you need is monitoring during pregnancy.
8. i hope i didn't forget anything important..
i just want you to know that it's not bad.. really, i've lived with it forever.. and having small boobs was not a real problem for me ;)
now the best thing u can do to ur self is keep an ideal weight.. cuz the fatter you are the worse your condition becomes as fat cells also contribute in the hormonal imbalance.. so keep a healthy diet, exercise.. and enjoy your life ;)
i hope i was helpful :)

I was diagnosed with PCOS after my daughter was born. Initially I had many cysts on my ovaries, caused me to have irregular periods, rapid weight gain, skin tags and excess hair. But now, there are no signs of cyst on my ovaries, in fact, my ovaries have gone down to normal size, but I still have hormonal factor of PCOS. I was put on metformin, and it helped with weight loss, getting my periods on track, the only downfall to that is that if you were trying to conceive, you have a higher chance of having multiple babies.
PCOS is not considered "bad" its just a pain the bootay. I never heard of it before I was diagnosed with it, but as soon as I was, I found out that yes, its VERY common. I found alot of my information on WEB MD. You really dont go through anything that will affect your daily routine. Irregular periods and heavy flow and cramps are the most common, well at least for me and 3 other girls I know that have it. If you have the rapid weight gain, just focus on that. I dont know what else to tell you. I just got on to the web and just tried to get as much information as I can, and they all say about the same thing. You will be fine, I promise!!

I've been diagnosed with PCOS for three years now when I was ttc and wasn't getting my period for months. I recommend going to see an endocrinologist that specializes in fertility. I went trough 5 cycles of clomid along with vaginal ultrasounds and blood work, which caused me to ovulate but didn't get me pregnant. After that didn't work, they tried IUI insemination several times which didn't work either. Finally after two years we did IVF and it worked on the first cycle. Stay positive, when I was first diagnosed I thought I was never going to get pregnant, it took around 2 years, but I am currently 9 weeks pregnant with a health baby.

PCOS is only caused while you are menstruating, not before puberty or after menopause. See this site below for natural help on healing it.
