i dont thing there are any cottages on the beach. i just visited it 15 days ago.... they had 50% rates that time because of off season. It is a bit busier than that rite now so probably it'll be a bit expensive. we stayed in a hotel for 400 rs a night. But in your price range any hotel will do. they are around the same bout 1700-2000 most of them. One HOTEL RADHIKA is supposed to be good. N there is another one next to it but i don remember it's name. Any way even if u go there n look for a room, it'll take you not more than a half hour to find it. diu is ver small u know.
N also when it comes to food, don dare to have the punjabi in diu, it's horrible.

COME TO GOA AND GO DOWN TO AGONDA FOR ABOUT 350/-TO 450/-PER DAY.IT'S SO CLOSE TO THE BEACH YOU COULD NOT COME ANY CLOSER.
FORGET DIU IT'S NO GOOD COME TO GOA IT'S BETTER IN GOA OK.
