Opportunity and role models influence why African American youth may excel. Athletics is one of the more financially rewarding areas in which youth see African Americans succeeding. There have been many talented white athletes that have simply had other opportunities available to them. There is a lot of risk and chance involved in trying to become an athlete. Injury ways heavily on an athletes future potential. Facing that risk can somewhat depend on what each individual feels they have to lose. That may motivate people to try harder. I don't believe that it is fair to assume that they are just naturally better athletes. They have to work at it.

Scrap the whole slavery answer to the question, the slaves came to America better athletes than any of the other races.

I say it's the genetic make up, however I do think that the sports the AA dominate are the ones that you're basing your conclusion on which I totally agree. Basketball, Boxing, Baseball, Tennis,Track and Field, Boxing(fighting), Football, etc sports that require bursts of speed, jumping ability, etc blacks will dominate because of their fast twitch muscles and genetics, however that answer is skewed because a sport such as boxing you can't just rely on you physical superiority it's as much a mental discipline as well.

However there are sports such as swimming, bike riding, long distance running, fencing, badminton, etc are these sports considered athletic sports, if so blacks don't dominate them so it also depends on which sports you're talking about and I think I know which sports you're talking about which are the popular American sports, basketball, fighting, football, baseball, track and field.

Well i would say that if that fact was true it would be because they would be more driven to peform .

For some kids the only way they can hope to have a better life so they focus on that sport and really work hard .

Plus pure love of the game take basketball while you & I are here talking about this the kid across the street has been shooting hoops .

I swear i never see that guy without his ball so i would say pratice does make perfect .

When the Blacks in Africa decided to sell other Blacks,
first tribe to tribe, then to the English, they were then
brought to America.
The Plantation owners got tired of fighting over who got the
biggest horses, strongest workers and fattest cows.
So they began to breed them to get the best for themselves.
Blacks were genetically altered from that time on...........
Only the biggest and strongest were kept, the rest....
Well, I guess you have heard that story.
