While Christmas has religious roots, it is generally recognized as a secular holiday...at least in the US.

As a more practical matter, when you have holidays that would be observed by the vast majority of your citizens, it is just easier to recognize them nationally anyway.

So that the employees can celebrate the holiday. It's also a nationally recognized holiday so since the Federal Gov't recognized the holiday, it would not make since for Federal employees not to have the day off.

It is not a religious holiday. It is only a federal holiday, you can choose to celebrate it anyway you want or not.

they're closed today because there are some staff who are Christians and they celebrate Christmas. Christians are the largest religious group there is in the world whether catholic, Lutheran, Anglican or other. in other words, if you believe in Jesus Christ and his birthday being on DEC 25Th then you are a christian.
NB - the Jehovah's witnesses are a different christian breed, they do not celebrate ANY holidays.

separation of church and state i get it .but because of the thousands of individual who might be christians working for the Federal government like celebrating the Christmas Holiday

Probably because, they need a day off to celebrate Christmas with their friends and family like any other person.

A company can be as non denominational as it wants, but if all the employees will be demanding a day off on a certain day or they'll be looking for another job, you'll find their hand gets forced a bit

its not a religious holiday but a Pagan holiday. know your history. christians moved the birthdate of christ to this time of the year to hide it from the Romans. they choose this Pagen holiday to hide it among.

because Christmas isn't just a religouse holiday any more no since they've started to change it to holiday its an international holiday
