depends which generation ur pod is
4th and 5th generations... ie is video picture and nano pods can be charged via comp USB2 ( the flat slot in front n back of ur CPU)
older ones require docking station plugged to electricity.....
but for comp it would be easier and hassle free if u also got i tunes comp recognizes ipod then easily
just with comp make sure to disconnect it via itunes or on the active button on ur right lower corner of screen.....
i mean dont pull the wire when it says dont disconnect can coz damage to pod

plug the included cable into your i pod. Then, plug the other end into your computer's USB port. However, you don't need a computer. Many speakers charge your i pod while it's being docked.
