I disagree. While you should certainly do the best you can to do what you want to do, the whole idea behind the concept of "HELP" means "I can't do this on my own and need the additional effort of someone else to accomplish it." If you can do something on your own, then you obviously don't NEED help. That's not "self-help," that's just doing what you were capable of.

Depends on the situation. Sometimes you need others help and then are there are times when only you can help you.
