The simplest way would be to pick up an adapter at your local electronics store that goes from a stereo miniplug (1/8") to left and right RCA plugs that would go in your stereo's auxiliary jacks. You'd plug the miniplug into the iPod's headphone connector.

There are fancier "docks" that use the iPod's docking connector, and some that even include a remote control to operate the iPod from a distance. The iPod would sit on the dock, and the dock would be hooked up to your home equipment using RCA cables.

You could also buy one of those self-powered or dock-connector-powered FM transmitter devices (like the iTrip) that are meant for use in cars (though not one of those that are powered by your car's cigarette lighter socket); you'd just tune your home stereo's radio receiver to the appropriate frequency. But the sound quality out of these things isn't particularly good.
