I wish all you VERY STUPID PEOPLE WOULD IMMIGRATE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY! You would find that every other Country pays MORE IN TAXES then we do! Has less rights to speak their mind then we do. And are NOT ALLOWED TO BEAR ARMS!

IN AMERICA WE ARE TAXED LESS, WE CAN SPEAK OUR MIND, VOTE FOR WHO EVER WE WANT, AND OWN FIRE ARMS!

EVEN IDIOTS LIKE YOU THAT DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT CAN RUN OFF AT THE MOUTH SPEAKING UN-TRUTHS. SO MANY STUPID IDIOTS ON THIS FORM!!

Now to answer your question. NO government is perfect but America's government is better than any other government world wide. So it is good enough for me. And obviously it is good enough for you and the rest of these cowards that snivel and hide in the shadows and do not stand proud for the Country and Government that protects their freedoms.

As others have said: The 2nd amendment. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

This was written by the same generation that wrote the Declaration of Independence. They wrote there 'that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights'. They said 'to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men'. They also said 'whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it'.

Between these writings, they participated in an ARMED REVOLT against the British Crown.

Given these facts, the second amendment MUST be intended to protect against the government. The peoples right and ability to overthrow the government is the only protection against a corrupt government.

We can use the vote to end the corruption but not the way we do now. We need to find enough good politicians to vote in a majority of them, vote half in during one election and the other half in the second so that we then have control of the government and we have to stop simply saying our government is perfect as many do. remember, when it comes to adjusted real income - what you do with your money after taxes - medical care, and educational opportunities, we are 7th behind 6 constitutional monarchies, according to the last U.N. Human index report.
we need a government, for example, that makes lobbying illegal - you can't stand outside a polling place and pay people to vote the way you want and yet we allow lobbyists to do that daily in Washington D.C. we are a great nation because of our ability to make needed changes but unless we do that, we are no better than any other country in the world and worse than some.

there is no protection against corruption duh....no one can predict who will succumb to the lures of power greed...
so we watch study up on the facts (not the news spin/ rants/carefully crafted propaganda...
.....WHEN a politician does NOT act to serve the greater needs of the nation because she/he CHOOSES to seek personal benefits in the political party "power war games"
, sucks up to lucrative supporters or xxxx,
.....THEN vote Them out FAST...
I agree with the idea that the cartridge box is the last option guess our founding fathers were well aware of the need to insure that corrupt or dictatorial "leaders" should receive quick and timely justice...

Absolute power corrupts absolutely vote for the most honest candidate and hope for the best we have no other recourse. American politics is fast becoming a joke as the best slogan or smear campaign wins it is certainly disparaging but its the only system we have at present and frankly the best in the world.

Basically the Bill of Rights helps us retain our democracy.

-Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press is very important because it allows us to complain about politicians and their actions without being sent to jail.

But lets face it, all institutions have an element of corruption. Because of human nature to be greedy and seek power.

Voting is VERY important. It keeps politicians honest and working for the people. I encourage everyone not to give up on democracy because the alternative isn't very attractive.

we used to have the second amendment to protect us from our government, but the idea behind it has been perverted and corrupted by our government. republicans and democrats are both to blame.
