A parent is a parent forever. It's the unbreakable bond. You can deny it, you can spit on it, you can curse it, you can walk away from it...

But you can't break it.

Not even in death.

Vilomah, for a parent who has lost a child, they have been vilomahed. The ancient word came about a couple of years ago, (to go) against a natural order. It is the closest word of use to this date and it's a tragedy that it is now becoming common.

You are still called a parent, it's just that your child is not alive anymore. It's a painful thing to lose a child, at any age, and contrary to popular belief, not every parent who has lost a child is irresponsible.

When parents lose a child, they lose their future. They experience pain like no other. Their grief is unimaginable and unbelievable. After all, children aren't supposed to die.

I suppose they are called "bereaved parents".

I guess loss of a child is so feared, unexpected and hard to get over, that people don't really want to invent a word that would mark a person who had lost a child.

I don't know. What a sad thought for any day, let alone Christmas. I hope you haven't experienced this. If you have, then I am truly sorry and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
