Some routers do allow you to control the bandwith going to the unit. You cannot control wireless of course. The problem you may have is that your bandwith may not be high from your isp. Added to the fact that your brother may have certain progrmas like instant messengars or aol that take up bandwith. Most routers are factory set to auto bandwith and will give more bandwith to the computer that asks for it.

if this router is a wireless type, the gaming computer shouldnt have the wireless card. it will cause it to lag. the best bet is to have the computer hardwired to the router...an actual cable hookup direct to the router from the computer. u could also get a 2 prong plug to plug into the modem, 1 cable to the gaming computer direct to the modem, and the other to the router and ur bud could use the wireless card easy.

I checked the D-Link website for both versions of the 604. the 4-port switch is unmanaged so you can not allocate bandwidth to the LAN ports. the firmware upgrades that are offered would have no effect on what you are looking to accomplish.

what kind of system do you have ? and your brothers?

At this point, I would try contacting the router makers.
