I think that police officers, teachers, and firemen are more deserving than celebrities. Honestly, I do not even think that acting or singing is a real career. All that actors do is the same thing that we ALL did as children, pretended that we were someone else; why should they get paid so much? They do not need all of that money! It is just ridiculous. And don't even get me started on singers.

And I am sick of celebrities getting their toes wet in things that they do not understand. I think that we all know that the charity work they do is just for "show". I also believe that Angelina is doing for show too. I think that they should just stick to acting or singing, and shut the hell up. They are not politics and I wish that people would stop paying so much attention to them like their our gods. It is amazing how the average American knows more about Jennifer Aniston than his own government.

And what about the men in women in the military? Why are they underpaid? They are serving our country! Surely, THEY should be getting the celebrity treatment.

I think that celebrities should just get paid by the hour. Like, 50 or 30 bucks an hour or so. I do not think that they should get MORE money if their movie sales. Shouldn't the directors and producers get that money instead?! And what about the back up team?

I agree with you. I think those occupations you mentioned should be the best paid people around. But then you'd have people doing it for the money instead of the love to teach, or because they want to protect their neighborhood. And celebrities only make as much money as we give them. If they are crappy actors or just not pretty enough, their movies don't make money, and they go silently into the night. But if the public likes them and their movies, we will spend millions of dollars at the box office, and a good portion of that money goes to the spoiled actors and actresses. That's why I don't feel bad for them when the paparazzi invade their life. It's a small price to pay for such a glamorous lifestyle.

Because society is naive and *** backwards.

Good rule of thumb. The harder you work, the less you get paid. The easier your job - the higher your income.

Celebs get paid to get recorded playing pretend. Usually more for one movie than most of us make many times over during our entire lives.

Athletes, the same except they get paid to do something most of us do for free for fun.

Take a roofer. Probably works hard enough daily that most people would simply quit and are lucky to break 30k a year. Their are hundreds of other examples but you get the idea.

A) no one person should be paid like that for anything.

B) if someone did it would make much more sense for it to be a surgeon who spent 20 years or more on his education and saves lives on a daily basis versus a high school drop out who gets paid to "talk" and doesnt even need to dress him or herself.

Basically it's a disgrace. Nothing anyone can do about it seeing as millions line up and cry just to "see" them like a god ffs

Its gross and shows how ignorant much of society is and how they willingly allow these people to get paid these absurd amounts of money. Most of these people are highschool drop outs and go on with their medicore acting skills that are no better than from a hs drama class and makes MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Whereas people who go to university for 5 years are struggling to even bring in 60k a year. Its ridiculous! And celebrities nowadays especially aren't deserving. Fine, there's been some talent in the past 50 years or so with Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, MJ, many people. but in the past 20 years, who do we have to call our celebrities? Justin BIEBER SELENA GOMEZ MISCHA BARTON untalented losers that sound like airheads. pathetic. on top of that, they're rude to their fans. I think that even if you were Whitney Houston, you still aren't deserving of millions of dollars. Why? Cuz they aren't participating in a vital role for society. They provide entertainment. So? We wouldn't die without it. We would die without doctors and surgeons and be lost without teachers but they don't even make a quarter of what these untalented and uneducated people do. Sad.

Well, to put it in a rather simplistic way: There's a lot of money in the entertainment business and successful actors and actresses have figured out how to leverage it so that a lot this cash is going into their pockets. You could say the same thing about the fast-food business (that there's a lot of money in it) but burger-flippers are only making minimum wage. This is because anyone or his brother can flip a burger but to be stunningly beautiful and have even a little bit of acting ability is a fairly rare commodity. So, they're taking full advantage of it. That's how capitalism works. If it really bugs you, you should boycott the entertainment industry (i.e., get rid of your TV and stop going to movies).

I agree with you...but for some reason people are willing to spend a lot of money to watch certain people pretend to be someone else.

I agree, it's kind of crazy, but until we all stop paying for movies, and pay to send our kids to the best teachers instead...it will stay that way.

You could say the same about athletes. They just entertain people and get paid millions.

But people get paid based supply and demand. Consumers want the best in entertainment and there are few who are the best and they reach millions of people so they get paid millions of dollars.

It's not fair, but that is free enterprise.

they are not paid because they're celebrities they are paid because you pay them. If you go watch a movie and Bruce Willis is in it he will get more money. If you don't want them to get paid just don't go watch their movies..

Acting isn't that easy. Plenty of them are bad at acting. Adam Sandler is a horrid actor. I like him, but tryingto watch him be real is torture.
