Beats me. Seems people have been that way for awhile (not just kids). I grew up poor and we didn't get much for Christmas, but we were always happy with what we got and that we got anything at all, even if it meant sharing. And I always tried to buy something at the dollar store from money I saved up throughout the year to put in the stockings. It wasn't much but it made my younger siblings a little happier.
Edit: One Christmas my youngest sister made up a song she called "Christmas is over now", which she would start singing the day after Christmas. In it she would ask people what presents they got for Christmas, saying if they didn't receive anything that they could have one of hers. Then she would list the few presents she got with a little desciption of them. It was rather sweet, and even though she's been dead for some years now (she died a few days after one Christmas) I try to sing the song every year as a tribute to her.

I dont like that either however one thing I found out I hate more is when people say this person did not give me a gift so I did not get them one or someone who says yah I got so and so a gift because they got me one and that is the only reason. Or when they say well they only got me this so I am only gonna get them this because its cheap they did not buy me a good gift. I used to spend $2000 on everyone I knew because I did not want to leave anyone out when I had the money and the gifts we really good too and I did not expect them to spend that much on me and the same people who said oh so and so only got me this kind of gift and it was not that great so I only got them this, never bought me and expensive gift. This annoys me its the thought that counts. Or the people who will only buy you a gift if you buy them something. Im talking about family and friends of mine, not all though. You should give without expecting to get something in return thats what christmas is supposed to be about.

People have lost the true spirit of Christmas. Most people see Christmas as the day when they get everything they want and when they don't they say ALL I got or I only got... These people have lost the true spirit of Christmas!!

It's the psychology of human mind. Whenever we have or get something, we want something more, something better.
It's good in some instances, like having a drive to achieve more, but it's certainly shelfish when a person is not satisfied by what someone else regards as a thoughtful and good present that they gave.

No I dont because I myself Might say " Well, all I got was a hoodie a book light and a pen, but I realy liked them all". There I would be comparing my "haul" to Christmases of my youth where presents were too numerous to even count, and being suprised with myself at my own complete lack of disapointment.
:-D Merry Christmas!!!

I didn't get SHlT this year. I haven't gotten a gift in 4 years, and my birthday is on Christmas. So, am I ungrateful?

No these are not ungrateful people. These are people who may need validation that they got a good gift or gave one. Don't be a kill joy. Let them have fun!
