Mine is the way of the Samurai; "It's easier to ask for forgivness than permission." You decide how useful that is.

This is a cool question. I would say my motto would be "Know Yourself."
Is it useful in everyday life? I suppose so. Many of the challenges that we face in life are only overcome because we will it to be so. We take chances, calculate risk, and hope for a positive, or beneficial result. Knowing yourself is the first step in overcoming your obstacles.

I have several mottoes, but the most unique is "Buy the best and only cry once" (developed after buying Walmart and other mega-chain products (being to cheap to buy the best merchandise I could afford) and having to go back a short time later because the inferior product had to be replaced)

I've never really though of it as a motto, just some words that I keep close to help me through life's rough spots.
He won't give me more than I can handle.
meaning ...If the situation is mine then I can handle even if I think otherwise or my Lord would not have put me in that particular situation. He knows me better than i know myself so I just need to plug away at it and accomplish it.
Believe it or not, that way of thinking has taken me through a house fire, the diagnosis of diabetes on BOTH of my children, severe financial hardship, abusive marriage and now a messy divorce. You've got to know where your strength lies and mine lies in Him

I have two mottos that I have lived with throughout my life and I find them very useful to life. "When people or friends show you who they really are, believe them." & "It doesn't matter what a person calls you, it's what you respond to."

Actually I have several posted at my desk at work.
Success comes before work only in the dictionary.
Big ships don't come in they are brought in.
How can you expect life to be a bowl of cherries if your always sour grapes.
The only alternative to living is death and that's not a viable option.
We enjoy the good days because we experience the bad ones.
