The BILLIONS of dollars spent every year on advertising surely indicates that it is important. Why else would companies and individuals "advertise"? The cost is high, so it must be worth it.

Advertising is very important. If you have a cow for sale and no one knows it then you are stuck with it.

Depends on what for! If for selling a product, then yes. If for stuffing kids heads with subliminal junk, NO!!!
