Guinea pigs are nocturnal, but i wouldnt exactly worry about a schedule. While they are young, They will sleep whenever they get the chance. So don't worry about interupting their naptime, they won't mind. Plus you're going to want them to get to know you, your voice and smell. As I always say, the way to a Guinea pig's heart is food. Carrots, Apples, oranges, celery, alfalfa, lettuce...you name it. Just don't give them too much green..like fresh spinach, though they love it...its not best for their digestive system. Good Luck With Your New Piggles!

Guinea pigs are NOT nocturnal. They sleep in short spurts throughout the day and night. You can take them out, but they might be a little annoyed for a few minutes. Most will just fall back asleep on your lap if they are still tired. My pigs usually don't mind. They'd rather run around and play with me than sleep.

Congrats on the new piggies!

It won't hurt to play with them for short periods during the day. Try to schedule most of the "playtime" early in the morning or later in the evening. They will eventually get used to this schedule and will become used to being handled.

My guinea pigs never cared when I visited with them....especially when I had a carrot or some other treat.

Guinea pigs are nocturnal, so they will sleep all day. You may want to wait until late afternoon to play are do anything with them. To get them use to you without scaring them try putting your hand in the cage and let them come to you first and smell your hand. Moving slowly maybe then you can start to pet them mine like it behind the ears. Get some of those small baby carrots and hold them as they eat them put don't give them too many at one time. Just work with them a little each day and before long they'll be happy and making that funny noise they make each time they see you. Just try not to do too much at once or move too fast and you'll do great. Clean their cage everyday too, one to keep them dry and too they can smell really bad if it's not cleaned everyday. Before long you will beable to let them sit beside you and move around the house freely but that comes in time. Have fun!

not really. guinea pigs sleep a lot when they are little and they will be more active at night. they wont hate you if you wake them up, try giving them fresh carrots and apples, then they will like you really fast. try putting something small in their cage with your sent on it, like a old shirt that the can nest in and learn your sent.
