im just learning and i need some basic top 40 songs to play? like known bands..

Well, it's actually for ukulele as you probably know, but you can play NeverShoutNever - Trouble on guitar. It's really easy once you figure out the strumming pattern, but until then just play down strums. Other really easy guitar songs are: Outkast - Hey Ya there are only 4 chords. It's 4 counts G, 8 counts C, 2 counts D, and 4 counts E (all basic chords, can be played as just down strums or my fave way to play it is down up-down up-down up-down for all except D which is just two down strums. Decode is pretty simple; Look at version 4 of the chords in Ultimate Guitar; it's most accurate and sounds great however you play. Also, take a look at the chords to Wherever You Will Go (The Calling), Hallelujah (Jeff Buckley), Without You (Busted) and Horse With No Name -- easiest song ever!
