you can choose to have itunes not access the internet first of all. You can and songs to your ipod while not online through Itunes, and there are other programs available to do the same thing including XPLay and Anapod. For video, the video needs to be in the right format, you cant simply put any video on an Ipod. For this, you use a converter, say APollo Ipod video converter. (see source for link).

i just got the ipod video today, and i had to download all the stuff on the cd that came with it, and then all the songs that was on my pc that i had went to itunes and when i plugged the ipod into the pc it automatically did it. hope this rambled answer helped lol good luck and merry christmas!!

Well Itunes is great
You can also use Napster.com
Windows Media
and they have directions
Itunes is .99 cents a song
Napster is 9.99 a month
Limewire is free but i dont think its legal so....
Windows Media you probably already have on you computer...
congrats on getting an ipod!! i have a nano which is pretty awesome...

you don't need a credit card, you need 2 fill in the account thing, so click in "Create Account", then when your done that get your itunes card and scratch off the gray thing. put that in a dn press redeem. then you can buy music, but you need to put in your password and email address. if you have any more questions then you can email me!!

just import cds into you itunes, there is no need to give your credit card that is only if you going to buy music from the itunes store

just don't sign up for an itunes account. you can still use the rest of itunes without using the store. you don't even have to be online. just import your cds.
look, all of this is in the manual, just read it.
