How long the light stays on. The longer you leave it on, the less battery life you have.
IF you have not found the backlight, it lights up the display so you can read it in the dark. The timer is how long is stays on
An Audio Book is a printed book read aloud by the author or an actor.
EQ is equalization... you can fiddle with how the music sounds. Usually leave at NONE

The backlight timer is the light on the screen after a certain amount of time the screen will dim that is what the timer is for you can set it to say how long after not touching it will the backlight go of, short of lyk on a computer when the screensaver comes on

the longer you use it the more battery power is used up
audiobooks are books you listen to instead of reading. you can buy those on itunes or at most bookstores

It's how long the light stays on, obviously :) Probably it's not best to leave it on for a long time. That's a waste of batteries.
Audio book is a book that the author or someone else reads aloud.
