Hi right now any hard drives internals or external are delicate.
Usually if you drop them even from a small distance e.g. 1 feet or more they will usually get bad sectors and make some of the space unusable anymore.

There are some hard drives that are a little bit more resistant to shock like some externals that have shock protection on the outside but even with that if you drop them or receive any kind of shock it will make the hard drive unusable or have bad sectors.

Not becoz it was called as hard drive it was really hard, it's becoz of its coating only, but the real deal is that this device is a very sensitive part of a PC, should not drop it for it may get bad sector or might not work permanently, should not get near a magnetic device for it may destroy the data that reside in it's cylinder blocks. The reason why it's coating is hard is to protect what is inside.

UNBREAKABLE !!

Just take it out of the PC, throw it on the concrete and try to smash it with a hammer if you don't believe me!
