I think it has a lot to do with the skill of the person using make-up. Make-up is not supposed to actually be visible (unless it's red lipstick, or glitter eyeshadow, which are not supposed to be worn unless it is a special occasion). When many women apply make-up, they apply it incorrectly, so they actually look plastic and cake-like. But, if correctly applied, it is invisible. If you know how, it is possible to wear foundation, powder, blush, eye shadow/liner, mascara, lipstick, without looking like you are wearing any at all. So I agree with you about not wearing too much.
And one of my favorite things about make-up is that it can allow your natural beauty to shine through--everyone has a favorite feature, or an imperfection that really bugs them, so to be able to accentuate or hide as they see fit can always increase self confidence.
Not to mention that make-up actually protects your skin from all of the pollution in the air, making your skin look nicer for longer, and slowing the aging process. Make-up can even clear up environmentally caused acne.

I think I am pretty with or without the make-up. I like wearing because it is something that I just do. Now if a woman feels that only makeup will make her pretty, then there is the problem. I work a part time and a full time job and go to school. I dont get a lot of sleep sometimes get bags under my eyes. So that I dont look rundown and beat, I wear consealer. That is a situation where makeup is a MUST. But even on the days I forget to coverup I walk around with my head held high and know that I am beautiful.

I can't answer for you women, but I'll give ya'll a guys point of view...
Makeup is VERY situational. Most of the time, I'm all about the natural beauty but not always. When me and my girl go out to a nice fancy restaurant, I like when she puts some makeup on. I get all dressed up and look nice, and so does she. The makeup just goes with that, and we look all classy.
It makes her feel better to wear makeup, but I don't understand why. She says she looks and feels sexy, and she likes to feel that way. I don't get it personally, but it's not me who's wearing it :P Whatever makes her happy is fine by me.

I hate make up, and when I'm going out I only put on some mascara and lip gloss at the most. And I agree with you; I don't think that make up truly makes you who you are and it gives off the impression to others that you're just a done-up barbie doll. The natural look is way more beautiful! Girls should try it some time, lol ;-)
And the funny thing is, I'm quite girly too.

I think make up can be a form of art, just that a lot of girls dont know how to apply it. When its done the right way it doesnt look fake. I dont wear make up to "bring out my natural beauty" or a little eyeliner and gloss, I use it to be more creative with it. There is much more to make up than the usual...

Unless you are absolutely perfect looking, any girl can benefit from a LITTLE make up. Key word being "little". I do wear make up and most people don't realize that I do. That's the best thing in the world when someone says that you look great without any make up and you actually have some on. Makeup should be subtle, not Tammy Fay Bakker-ish, that's just nasty.

You know what? the reality is that everyone who wears makeup, looks better. If you think that you look good naturally, you are completely in denial. Those who wear makeup look more polished than those who do not. The majority of women who wear makeup, dress nicely. Look at the women in Europe. Low self confidence makes you not wear any makeup because your mind is telling you that makeup would not make me look any better than what I am now.

A lot of girls hide behind their make up and feel that they're ugly without it. I don't wear a lot, I just use a little bit to accentuate my eyes and lips. It makes me feel a little prettier and I think it's nice to put some effort into getting ready. But a LOT of make up would make me feel like a clown. So to answer your question yes wearing make up makes most girls feel prettier.

I think that it all depends on the situation. If your going out to the club or out for dinner then absolutely, but I also think less is more in most cases just some mascara and lip gloss is suffice. It does boost your confidence, but if you can't leave the house to go to the store without putting on your face then there are other issues.

yeah, i think most girls feel prettier when they wear make-up. They wear it so often the get used to it. It sort of becomes part of their daily routine.
Me, personally i don't wear that much make-up, i usually just wear clear lip-gloss and might wear some light eyeshadow daily. But occasionally i like to get dolled up and wear everything from foundation, to eyeliner, lip-gloss, mascara, eyeshadow, blusher etc... but that's only really rarely.
i think younger people like me (I'm 14) shouldn't wear too much make-up seeing as we're already young so have the "young and radiant" look. I also think if you have to wear alot of make-up everyday then you should keep it as natural as possible because natural is always best, because nobody looks good with blood-red lips, orange skin, bright eyeshadows and mascaras, red blushers (unless its natural).
hope this helps.
