Yes, you can transfer it directly. Open up Itunes. Then go to your download folder from Limewire. Click and drag the song icon from whatever folder you have for completed downloads to the Itunes and let go. It will copy. Enjoy.

Yeah, I do it all the time. Download your songs, then go to your iTunes program and under File, click "add folder to library." From there, you need to figure out what file Limewire is sending your songs to. I made it simple by making sure my Limewire saves to a special folder I set up. So you've figured out what file it is, highlight it, and click ok. Then iTunes does it's things, adds the songs to your iTunes library. From there I listen to the songs to make sure that they don't have flaws or anything wrong with them. Then (with your iPod plugged in of course) you click and drag the song to whichever playlist you want it on.

I just hope you scanned all the music first for virus's and spyware. and done a complete virus scan of your computer.
Limewire and bearshare are two websites to stay well clear off.
why you might well ask, for these are file sharing websites.

Yes but into iTunes first and then into your iPod. Before you do though I recommend also making a folder and dropping them there too because if for whatever reason you delete your iTunes library you have a backup in the form of a folder and instead of trying to remember what songs you had you can just take them from your folder and put them back into iTunes.
