In light of the many negative replies, I should add that I am interested in maintaining my property value and that a strong statistical link between blacks moving into a neighborhood and a decline in home value exists. I would like to do this in as polite a way as possible, and avoid hurting anyone's feelings.

Earl, I think you mean you want to discourage bad neighbors from moving into your neighborhood.
Because I have a black family next door and they are awesome.
However, I have lived next to white families that have caused all sorts of problems for me (loud music and parties).
I used to be really racist, until I joined the army, then I meet blacks, hispanics, and asians who all worked just as hard as the white soldiers we all joined to fight the terrorists and do a good job. I've had bad soldiers of all races.
There are bad apples in every bucket.
But I think the best way to discourage bad neighbors is to form a home owners association (HOA).
Your HOA should meet atleast every quarter, you can put a lean against a house you think aren't keeping up with the neighboorhood in terms of appearance and are socially deconstructive.

Earl, First you need to relax and take inventory of your situation. My view is not the same as yours but I have time, so I will help you anyway since all you seem to be getting are snarky answers. Not all black people are bad, and not all white people are good. That said I will give you some pointers as for what to do. A home owners association where you are the realtor is an idea. That way you will be able to control who sees what house and keep any undesirable neighbors at a decent distance. What would be ideal is if you and a few "good ol boys" (5 max) get into real-estate together. Don t make it about money, keep your prime goal in mind. Don t do anything to get the attention of any pro-black groups. If that happens, game over, you ll have to start over again. Also, don t just let in any white person. Make sure that they have the same views as you. If not, then everything will unravel in 20yrs, and make sure the kids are being taught right. If not, everything will unravel in 40yrs. Making all that work for nothing. However; don t get irked when there s one person that you don t approve of. there are many things you can do within the law to induce an undesirable neighbor to move. 1. slight annoyances. this would take time but no one would be the wiser. Buy an Annoy-a-Tron from thinkgeek.com and place in on top of the duct work or whatever else. If they are highly religious even better. Get Annoy-a-Tron 2.0. Second, 2, If they are VERY religious use it. Faking an interest in the satanic or cult life will creep out anyone, but you have to really sell it. -Don t Be Malicious-. Finally, Don t be so out with this, especially on the internet. you re supposed to be a ghost not David Copperfield. I you can t handle all this, move to the middle of nowhere, by a lot of land (100acers), have a nice young girlfriend (21-23yrs), and have ton s of children (8 kids) which you will have to home-school so they don t become swayed. Also, you will need, no, MUST vet your children s friends so that they will not be swayed by the wrong crowd (your perspective). Just because they are white does not mean they are right in the head. This means getting to know ALL your neighbors really well. And as a final final note, Take a lot of psychology classes and NLP seminars. The knowledge and practice will help you to gently guide all your children and others to understand and see the world as you do. Well, Good luck with that. I hope this answer is to your satisfaction.

Sadly, you can't really. What's more sad though, is that you just want to discourage blacks. Not all blacks, or anyone for that matter, are bad. You want to discourage anyone who's going to ruin your neighborhood, no matter their race or creed. If it's really that much of a problem, and your neighborhood is a nice tight-nit community, anyone who moves in and causes trouble will eventually be pushed out.

Hire a good lawyer because you will get law suits filed against you and then it will cost you many $$$$$. You will also loose the cases. After your insurance company drops you and refuses to pay, sell the property for a reduced price, pay off your debts and move. It is people like you that create problems for all of us. Why not refer the question to your local NAACP office?

You can not do that in America (maybe somewhere else); so if you currently live in America, move to a country that would allow that, if that's what you want.
Or, you could try to learn to live with blacks in your neighborhood by treating them with respect and giving them the benefit of the doubt. They have the same rights you do (in America); and they are no less human than you are. If they are moving into your neighborhood, you could say they are a bit better than you, since they are not too racist to refuse to move there.

Oh and btw I live in an apartment block of 21 people where I am the only ethnic minority. All of the other occupants are white and they are either: drug addicts, alcholics or have mental health problems...I on the other hand am a Law Student... by your reasoning I should get the hell out of here so as not to be contaminated by these downwardly mobile people!!!!
Get a life.. if you want to move to an all white area.. move to somewhere in Eastern Euope!!

If you find a way, let us know. This used to be a great neighborhood. Over the last few years it has been browning up. Now the crime rate is up and property values are down.
