What sticks out the most as far as personal family traditions go? One thing my family did for over 20 years was pass the SAME fruitcake around to a different family member each year. It would always be wrapped new, or cleverly packaged so the recipient didnt know what it was until they opened it. We really did keep the same one all those years until it finally got dropped and broke.

What about your traditions?

one year my sister put the celery stalk in the middle of the table as our centerpiece because we didn't have one that year. Ever since on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter we use a celery stalk as our center piece.

Yes, your family is quirky. My family had a tradition I miss very much. After the dinner but before leaving the table, Daddy would recite a few poems he had worked on. Twas the Night Before Christmas, the Killing of Dan McGrew, Kiplings "If", and so on. Us kids got a big kick out of it. Mother's personal tradition was to leave the table as soon as he started, make a dismissive noise, and start banging around pots and pans in the kitchen! Merry Christmas to You and Yours....

well...for my dad's family...his great-grandma had this little dog who, from what is seems, was quite obsessive with. and she had this hand-painted portrait of him made, when she died it was kinda a running joke for who would get the portrait for Christmas, bday, or maybe even flag day! well..one drunk night my uncles got together and burned it. but NO FEARS for as of last summer they found the headstone of the beloved pet, and has started up the new tradition!!!!

well i cant remember anymore but believe me ill be back when i do.

Well, since I follow Scripture, I only celebrate Biblical Holidays, such as Chanukkah.
You should try it, punk!
