Well.... it implies that the person doing the "jumping" is a follower.... however, it's not necessarily a bad thing. It depends on a)whether or not you are jumping on it cause YOU want to jump and b)the reason why you are jumping on it top begin with. If it's truly something you value or believe in it can be a good thing to get right on it! BUT when you jump on it for other than personal reasons (i.e. if you do it to impress someone, or just b/c "everyone else is doing it) than it can backfire on you, since you have that rewarding feeling.

Depends what is on the bandwagon lol! Most of the time jumping on the bandwagon is not worth it. Not worth the time or effort, or I just can not see the point of jumping on...

Only if i'm too busy to do my own research, then I make a hopefully balanced judgement call on who i'll side with. Such as with a sports team during the big game. If I've been too busy to see enough games, I'll pick my favorite players from each team, try to figure out who deserves the win more, and then root for that guys team.
Since I wasn't a fan of that team, or rooting for them before the big game then I guess that's jumping on the band wagon.
Maybe you could clarify this question a bit.
