This has become a TREND only in the last 25 years. There's a couple of reasons:

1. Those who do not believe that Christ or his birthday has anything to do with Christmas.

2. Some spell it that way because it's easier to write instead of writing Kris, (Christ) or cross, they write X, for short.

There are times when the term XMAS is considered as a disrespecting term for Christmas, the early Christians adopted the X as a symbol for Christ. The Greek letter Chi Χ stood for "Christ" in the ancient Greek acrostic ΙΧΘΥΣ ichthys.

They are trying to take CHRIST out of Christmas!!!
It is said they use X to represent cross, that is a lie, if they wanted to represent the cross they would use a T.
It is also said, In the Greek alphabet, x is pronounced chi. It's Christmas no chimas!!

They use X to represent cross and cross represents Christ. I think they are being lazy or trying to save space.

The "X" symbolizes the cross Jesus died on. Get it--and X is a cross--like a "Ducks X-ing" sign........so, the 'cross' got moved over to Christmas eventually.......

i think its just to shorten the word...frankly i hate it when people write it that way because in my opinion, it's like taking the "CHRIST" out of the CHRISTmas. * Have a Merry CHRISTmas (lol)!*

Someone told me the X represents the cross, but this makes a lot of people angry.

Because they are too lazy to type out the whole word. Especially when it comes to texting.

Chilax everyone! its no big deal, anyways, most people in America dont celebrate "christ"mas because they are fed up with Christians. Hey, I used to be one, but so many can be so ignorant, but still most of them are good people so they should be able to realize "x"mas is no biggie.
