You are alive, you're heart is beating, your brain is working

You are alive, but then again you could be dead, nonexistant, never to be seen again.

So how does it feel to be alive.

How do you think it will feel to be dead.

Sometimes it feels beautiful, exhilarating, joyful, exciting. Sometimes it feels painful, depressing, a chore. The rest of the time I scarcely feel it, scarcely notice that I'm alive. It's like you forget. You take it for granted. All of your senses. Your heart beating. Breathing in & out. Just being able to sit here & type this. Being able to see, think, hear the click of keys, feel them beneath my fingers as I type words for strangers to read. So many things are miraculous but we have grown too accustomed to them to notice.

You have to be aware of something to feel it. I think a lot of us slumber through most of our lives.

When you're dead you don't feel anything (physically) but hopefully my spirit will feel the joy of being in Heaven when I go...

I had a feeling the other day that being alive was like being awake in a dream and the opportunities seemed endless.
And I think that that's true, however maintaining an elevated mood like that is impossible to do.
Still, the thought stays with me and I plan to start believing in it as my daily mantra.
You don't feel anything when you're dead. Unless you have that disease where you seem like you're dead, and your flesh starts to rot while you are still alive. Then you'd get buried alive. That would feel really really horrible.

Air, water, food, and sleep keep the human body alive.
I would say the Soul as well, but I truly believe some people are soulless.

Being alive is better than the alternative. I'm content with my life & sometimes I'm happy. Easily pleased. Since retirement I can do what I want, when I want. Have time to spend on hobbies.

To be dead: Believe in heaven & hope to go there so that I can be in the presence of God. Nothing could be better than that.

So true as I know several people that are strictly going through the motions of living. They have no purpose, meaning or direction in their life. They have given up and are now strictly in a state of existence.
I'm able to recognize those things because several years ago I was in that same place.
Now, however, I have found purpose, meaning and fulfillment.
Without those things is anyone truly alive.

How does it feel to be alive as opposed to what - being dead? That would be hard to say since I've never experienced being dead.
