I would think so. I'm sure there are men who would like to prey on young women like yourselves who they would believe to be naive. I'd say to watch yourself and don't fall for anything.

I lived in England (specifically London) for much of my 20s. I'm from the New York City area. As with any large city, you just have to be smart. I don't think London is any more dangerous than any other large city. In fact, I usually felt safer there than in New York for the most part.
I traveled extensively throughout London and England (hell, all over Europe) during the time I lived abroad, often by myself. I never felt threatened in any way but I also was just conscious about where I went and when. Basic common sense really is the most important thing (stay in well-lit areas after dark, watch where you keep your wallet, be careful of going out drinking/pubbing if you are on your own...in otherwords don't get stumbling drunk if there is no one to watch your back! Stuff like that)
Have a wonderful time! London is great!!!

Just use plain common sense , be street-wise and you'll be perfectly fine. Londoners generally dont approach strangers and keep themselves to themselves..so just be a little careful if anyone tries to "chat you up".
London is no more dangerous for a single woman than any other large city in the world, and considerably safer than most.

Just be streetwise as you would be back home. Keep personal belongings i.e. money etc. inside your jacket. Don't accept lifts from strangers. Only use licenced taxi cabs (black London cabs). Stay in well lit areas, if travelling back to your hotel late at night use a taxi.
Keep your purse close to your body on busy tube trains. Don't accept drinks from strangers and never leave your drink unattended.
I am a Londoner by birth. This advice I give my daughter.

Not really. Just take a cab to places that you want to go to. I did it. I went to the Ripper tour it was awesome in the White chapel area. During the daytime it's not bad. I wouldn't go venturing out on a street by yourself at night though in any city or town that you are unfamiliar with. As long as you stick with the taxis you will be okay.

If you are travelling for pleasure, then be cautious with your money and precious items dear. Else, if you are travelling on obligation or for professionnal reasons, then dress up conviniently to fight back cold! ;-)
In both cases i'd advise you to dress up casually, and not much , or discreet, or else none at all, of jewellery. That is, keep a low profile. That could help you pass unnoticed and have your trip quite safely. Bon voyage!
