The U.S. Patent Office has a lot of really good information for you to use to do-it-yourself, but you can always get a patent attorney (for a sometimes large fee). This one advertises on the internet at a $2500 fee ... http://www.patent-application.us/ (no connection, just noticed his ad) Seems high to me, but I've never applied for a patent.
