my mom is in the hospital. I asked her to borrow her car. she said yes. On a whim, I drove from Nashville to Colorado to see the Rockies. Now she is pissed, but she lets everyone in the family take her van on long road trips, so I thought it would be okay, and I did not want to wake her up and ask, so I just left. Now she is pissed, and says she has reported the car stolen, but she gave me the keys, and did not say where I could go....but on the way home, if I get stopped, can I be arressted for stealing her car after she told me I could borrow it?

no. if you have consent to take the vehicle, there is nothing she can do (unless your own mother were to lie)

Once you were given permission to take the vehicle, even if it were once, you should not be arrested for theft.
